About Our Sphynx Breeding Program
Our Sphynx breeding program focuses on health testing, steady temperament, and transparent pedigrees. We follow best-practice socialization, skin-friendly home setups, and responsible pairing choices. We are proud Sphynx breeders who emphasize quality husbandry over volume and never place kittens that are regularly left without appropriate companionship or care.
Registration & Standards
Breeding cats are registered with TICA and aligned with the breed standard (wedge-shaped head / somewhat wedge-shaped head, large ears, lemon-shaped eyes, prominent cheekbones, neat, rounded paws, long legs, and a rounded abdomen). Coats range from entirely hairless to excellent fur or fine fur (the Sphynx is a hairless cat, but slight fuzz can appear).
Temperament First
Sphynx cats tend to be people-oriented, curious, and highly active. We encourage interactive play, highly active routines, and simulated hunting games with cat trees to support confident, well-adjusted companions for family homes with dogs or other cats.
Health Testing
Parents undergo Sphynx HCM screening (regular echocardiograms to monitor heart muscle changes associated with hypertrophic cardiomyopathyโthe most common feline heart disease). We also review skin condition trends and counsel on oily skin hygiene and the management of natural oils.
Fun history: The Sphynx traces to a naturally occurring genetic mutationโfamously, a domestic cat gave birth to hairless kittens in Canada, leading to the modern โCanadian Hairlessโ lineage. While the look is striking, what wins hearts is their warmth, intelligence, and connection with people.

Temperament & Daily Life of this Cat Breed
Sphynx are often described as โdependent catโ types in the best way: they crave attention, are naturally curious, and bond hard with their people. With kids or respectful dogs, they tend to flourish. Our kittens are raised to handle familiar household sounds, gentle handling, and short car rides, which helps them transition easily into family life.
What Families Notice | How We Support It |
|---|---|
Playful, social, and people-oriented | Daily play plans, puzzle feeders, cat trees, and โmeet new friendsโ protocols |
Seek warmth and soft textiles. | Cozy beds, shirts for colder rooms, careful sun exposure (protect delicate skin) |
Curious explorers | Safe climbing options and window perches; rotate toys every few hours for novelty |
Health, HCM (hypertrophic cardiomyopathy) Screening & Care Basics
We partner with veterinarians to monitor heart muscle health and overall wellness. Because some lines can be prone to hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, we schedule regular echocardiograms and track results across generations. We also guide new Sphynx owners on gentle hygiene: frequent cleaning of wrinkle areas with a soft cloth or cotton ball, and routine ear care to prevent buildup.
- HCM Echos: We follow a recurring Sphynx HCM screening schedule and share results with adopting families.
- Skin & Oils: Sphynx have natural oils and lack fur. Regular short baths and clean bedding help prevent skin damage.
- Temperament Care: โMore cuddles, less stress.โ Calm routines help even a first-sight shy kitten open up quickly.
Breed notes: The Sphynx is a modern cat breed derived from a genetic mutation (the hairless gene). Some lines were historically outcrossed to breeds like the Devon Rex, shaping todayโs robust Sphynx breed standard.
Breed Standard & Colors
Youโll see a wide range of colors and coat patterns expressed via pigmented skin, solid, tabby, and more. We select parents for confirmation (head type, ear size, eye shape) and confident, friendly personalities. The combination of a somewhat wedge-shaped head, large ears, and expressive eyes is part of the signature Sphynx look.
Parents & Bloodlines (Quick Reference)
We keep transparent records for our Sphynx kittens (parents & bloodlines). Each pairing lists registration numbers, test dates, and temperament notes. Please request a sample pedigree at any time via our contact page.

FAQ โ Sphynx Cats
Are Sphynx cats โhairlessโ or do they have very fine fur?
Most are hairless felines with fabulous fur or โpeach fuzz.โ That lack of fur means clothes and cozy beds are essential for regulating body temperature.
Do Sphynx shed?
Not like other cat breeds with short hair, but you may see light fuzz and ordinary skin exfoliation. Wipe-downs and laundry keep things fresh.
What temperament should we expect?
An inquisitive cat sociable with people, often a lap-lover who may crave attention. With gentle introductions, they co-exist beautifully with other pets.
How do you screen for HCM?
We use periodic echocardiograms (ultrasound) and track results across our lines. Because many purebred cats can develop genetic health problems, we value long-view recordkeeping and proactive veterinarian partnerships.
Are Sphynx suitable for people with allergies?
Some households with human allergies report fewer issues with Sphynx, but no cat is 100% hypoallergenic. Dander and saliva proteins still exist in every domestic cat.
